Papapayat na talaga ako (This is really is it!)

I firmly believed that Diet is DIE with a T

until i measured by BMI or Body Mass Index last October and found out I am OBESE. BMI 30.

My lifestyle suddenly flashbacked on me in sepia tone..

My KFC 2 pc. chicken meal soaked in 250ml gravy, my mushroom soup and my chocolate mousse. Plus Pepsi Float.

Scene: Weekends, for 6 months

Rice in the morning, 1 pc deep fried chicken with 2 packs of Lucky Me Pancit canton, Fried Sunny Side Up Egg. Sometimes, Ham or 2 packs of Lucky Me Beef with 2 eggs.

Scene: Weekdays, for 6months

20 pcs of Hany Coin or Chocnut or Flat Tops or 8 sticks of Kitkat.

Scene: Snacks, for 6months

That was basically how I gained so much pounds. I overate. That's it. I was with my cousin, Kye, who was also HUGE (but doesnt give a damn about it) every weekend. She was bumming then but now, she had work so we seldom see each other. But the lifestyle we had still continued for a couple of weeks, until i decided I needed professional help.

Last October, I weighted 165 pounds. I enrolled in Bioessence under a slimming program and mind you, my dad spent a lot! I had 10 G5 treatments and 20 Celluwave, all breaking down of fats and 10 more Faradic for firming.

I have remaining 12 Celluwave and I think, 8 more Faradic, but weighted 166 pounds now! I know its my fault for not sticking with the diet plan they prescibed me and that is, 2 1/2 cups of rice/carb a day, 6 servings of fruits and 1 palm size meat. That's my daily allowed food intake.

I was able to stick with it the first few weeks then started eating out again! I was out of control, and sadly, i influenced Jed on eating, too. He gained weight too because of me.

This really sucks. My former consultant resigned and i was endorsed to another Nutritionist. She was telling me that i should enroll again for 10 more G5 sessions, although i see the need for it, hell no! Wala na kaming pera, lagot na ako mashado sa daddy ko.

I pity myself for taking to many drugs since time immemorial. I cant count with my hands how many over the counter slimming pills, teas and drugs i took just to get the figure i wanted. But the problem is i lack discipline.

When I was in first year college, I took Spirulina even though i did not exactly know for what it was. I took American Nutrionists Food Supplements, I drank Bavarian Brew Slimming Coffee. I took Fitrum, believed it was effective then ditched it. I tried Xando Block and Burn, it was efffective, but it was too expensive for a student like me. Then there was Xenical... which was too messy with oily discharge. I tried this Slenda too, only to find out why it does not take effect on me, because i take it after meals when in fact it should be taken before meals. I tried Zyme Lecithin too but the effect to me was that I was always sleepy (Thus resulted to having great skin because of enough sleep). Now, Im currently taking Lesofat, with generic name of Orlistat. Same effects with Xenical but more manageable and a bit cheaper than Xenical.

A close friend of mine took Metformin and Reductil and she really did lose weight, as accompanied with diet. I wanted to take the two, too, but was scared of the side effects.

Metformin were for diabetics only, so I dont want to take it. Reducti, as ive read, really works but it increases blood pressure.

REDUCTIL

DRUG NAME: Sibutramine

USE: Anti-obesity, weight loss/control

Reductil is an appetite suppressant that is used as a weight control medication. It is indicated for the management of obesity.

Reductil works by blocking the nerve cells that release and reabsorb serotonin, thus increasing serotonin levels. The increased serotonin acts in the brain and enhances feelings of fullness so that you eat less. By eating less, you consequently lose weight.

This medicine can help you reduce weight or maintain a lower weight by suppressing your appetite.

Reductil should be prescribed only for individuals who have attempted seriously to lose weight by diet, exercise, and other behavioural modification.

Cautions:

Do not use if:

- You have heart problems (eg. coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrythmias)

- You have uncontrolled high blood pressure

- You have had a stroke

- You have an overactive thyroid

- You have a psychiatric disorder

- Severely decreased kidney function

- Severely decreased liver function

- Caution is also advised if you have epilepsy or sleep apnoea.

- Pregnancy and breastfeeding (discuss with doctor).

Side effects:

Insomnia, constipation, dry mouth, increased heart rate, increased blood pressure.

Interactions:

Contraindicated if taking monoamine oxidase inhibitor antidepressants (MAOIs).

Some antifungals and some antibiotics may increase blood levels (eg.ketoconazole, erythromycin, cylclosporin).

Some antiepileptic drugs make reductil less effective by reducing blood levels (eg. phenobarbitone, phenytoin, carbamazepine).

Should not be used at the same time as other medicines that increase serotonin levels in the brain (eg. sumatriptan, some opiod pain killers).

Patient information:

Follow the instructions carefully on the label of this medicine.

Weight loss is gradual.

Arrangements should exist for appropriate healthcare professionals to offer specific advice, support, and counselling on diet, physical activity, and behavioural strategies to those receiving sibutramine.
