Ely Buendia Rushed to Hospital, E-Heads Reunion Concert Cut Short

MANILA, Philippines - The Eraserheads reunion concert on Saturday night at the Bonifacio Global City Open Field was cut short after lead singer Ely Buendia suffered chest pain.

Concert organizers and friends rushed Buendia to the Makati Medical Center, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

In a text message to GMANews.TV, Dok Sergio, bassist of Buendia's new band Pupil, said: "Ely is fine. Don't worry."

The Erasherheads opened the concert at 8:15 p.m. with their hit song “Alapaap" and proceeded to play classics such as “Ligaya," “Wag Mo Nang Itanong," “Fruitcake," among others.

More than 10 songs were played to eager fans at The Fort and around 9:30 p.m. the band took a 30-minute break. Forty minutes later, Buendia’s sister went up to the stage to break the sad news.

"We regret to inform you that we have to cut the concert short. My brother had to be rushed to hospital because of emotional and physical stress he is experiencing," said Buendia's sister Lali to concert-goers.

In 2007, Buendia suffered a heart attack while his new band Pupil was performing in Laguna.

The Eraserheads was a popular Pinoy rock band of the 1990s formed by Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro.

EHEADS LANG talga....

IMAGINE, I WAS JUST GRADE 2 THEN. SOBRANG IDOL.

I JUST HOPE THEY'D DO ANOTHER CONCERT.. KASI PAG HINDI KO NAPANUOD SI ELY BUENDIA BAKA MAGSISI LANG AKO!

I REALLY REALLY HAVE TO WATCH ONE OF THEIR GIGS!!!!

ILOVE ERASERHEADS!!!!

My Summer Officially Ended in August!

Yep, you read it right. I had my most final talaga as in mega todo to the highest level (promise!) vacation last long weekend… where? In Puerto Galera.

Well, I was supposed to have a vacation lang in one hotel in Batangas City, gift siya ng tita ko for my birthday. I ended up being with my Jed. Haha.. Honeymoon ito?

So I was planning to go in La Luz in San Juan Batangas because I heard it was nice in there. Apparently, it’s a long two hour drive (jeep and tricycle)… sabi ng hotel chauffer, he’d strongly recommend going to Puerto Galera nalang daw.

As for me, I did not actually enjoyed Puerto Galera. Aside from the fact na hindi peak season, (walang masyadong tao) walang events at hindi masyadong okay yung night life nila. But the weather was good, maaraw naman kinabukasan, pero pag bandang hapon, umuulan.

Sa Tamarraw Beach Resort kami nag check-in. WRONG MOVE. Imagine, eto yung galera, tas may bundok, tas sa kabilang side kami. Payapa naman dun, WALANG NIGHT LIFE. Argh, another wrong move. Hahaha… Nirecommend kasi nung chauffer na sa Tamarraw Beach daw kami… that’s about (sabi sa Ads) 3 to 5 minutes away from White beach.

Right?

We after a few drinks, mga paborito kong Bailey’s at Vokda Citron, nag-aaroz caldo kami pantagal lasing. Then naghanap kami ng tricyle. Hanep, super duper byahe pala talaga pag nag-trike.. main road nga kasi ang daan. Pucha, as in zigzag road talaga.. haha.. kaloka talaga, adventure.

The next morning, we went swimming, natatakot ako. Nakakatawa. Nung sa bora naman ang sarap lumangoy, sobrang clear kasi ng tubig at walang mga bato, as in purong buhangin. Nung sa Puerto, ang dilim ng ilalim, nakakatakot saka uhmm, I have my period, nakakatakot baka may sumugod saking mga pating! Haha.. phobia! Kaya tamang 3 metro away from the shore lang ako, sumasabay sa lakas ng alon, nagtitrip nalang kami ni Jedoi sa lakas ng alon.

After showering and fixing our stuffs, we decided na sa White beach kami pumunta at sumakay sa boat.

HANEP! Another adventure!

Buti nalang talaga, I was with Jed.

Highly recommended, SARAP dun!

Late checkout kami, dapat by 1pm we have to be out na sa hotel but the Days Hotel Staff are so nice and accommodating, kahit 3pm na kami nagcheck out wala namang charge. Sobrang thank you talaga Days Hotel peeps.

OA. Yung isang manong 60 lang singil. Pinaka tapat na presyo. Yung iba, 80 and worst, 100 pesos. Same destination, Pier to Hotel. Pati mga pasalubong, OA, 150pesos yung turrones de mani.

Kaya mga people, beware, yang mga THE TRICYCLE DRIVERS FROM BATANGAS ARE NOT NICE. HAHA. Igeneralize ba daw, 60pesos lang tandaan niyo, from Pacalleon Road, Batangas City to Pier, not more not less, kahit ano pang Pontio Pilato Road ang ginagawa, 60 pesos lang ang trike ride.

Well, im just so happy that I was with him sa last summer adventure ko ng August. At least nakapag-enjoy ako sa buhay ko for the last time. Haha. Next stop, Baguio on Octorber! Nyahehehe!

Anong eksena saTaft kapag umuulan?

Una. BUMAHA. what's new?

Ikalawa. Fee=P5.

Ikatlo. Kung naka-havaiannas ka naman (ahem) at willing lumusong sa baha, get ready na make tiklop your skinny jeans then hug your bags tightly para naman comfy kayo sa ilalim ng Umbrella--ella--ella---ey.. ey...

Ikaapat. Sumabay sa nakatatanda para mailibre ng pamasahe sa pedicab at jeep. well this goes out to me when ate cindy from Ample Press paid for me! wahaha..

"Oh my gosh, how would we pass ba?"

"i dont know nga eh..."

"Excuse me, excuse me lang po..." -bypassers

"Grabe naman sina manong, the ulan is so lakas na nga eh..."

"Oh, tabi-tabi muna, dadaan ang mga Miss..." -pedicab driver

"Kuya hold on, wait lang tlaga.. promise...."

(Eksena ng 3 Paulinian na ayaw lumusong)

Ikaanim. Magsusulputan ang mga mandurukot at snatchers. Modus, habang natataranta ang mga chikababes na walang payong.. hayon at makikisabay sayo sa isang crowded area... ayon nga at may nasaksihan ako, 2 pa silang magbarkada.. how could they be soo tanga not to feel that pickpockets hands on their bags... tinitigan ko nga yung mandurukot.. babaeng mukhang barket at ang themesong yata eh "Basang-basa sa Ulan" by Aegis.

Hayy buhay.

Ikapito.

GADDEMIT. buti nalang mukha akong basang sisiw (or biik) kaya may nagpaupo sakin. salamat po.

****

Multiply Avlack Theme: Created by a Filipino? (from Inquirer)

MANILA, Philippines—The next time you decide to change your Multiply theme, scroll down and look at the template Avlack—that template was created by a young graphic designer from Makati.

In 2005, Dave Hersh of Multiply came across Jolo Santos’ blog and liked his design. “He e-mailed and asked me if they can use my design as a working Multiply theme.”

Jolo then tweaked the design to make it compatible with Multiply’s theme system. Since then, countless people from around the world have used Avlack as their Multiply design. “I’m glad and proud that they like my theme, especially when I see that they’re Filipinos. I love it when people customize my theme.”

Memorable creations

That Multiply theme isn’t Jolo’s only creation. The 22-year-old designer counts the Penshoppe 2007 campaign website and The Shopify theme as some of his most memorable creations. “Penshoppe gave my partner and I creative freedom while The Shopify Project has given me clients abroad.”

Jolo, who has an International Advanced Diploma in Computing from Informatics and who studied Enterprise & Mobile Development on Java Technologies at NIIT, has always wanted to be a designer. “I love solving things, building things and being creative.”

This self-declared geek traces his design roots to his days in high school. “I loved the nitty gritty of computer programs. I was also active in design contests. But it was in college where my enthusiasm for design and geekiness collided. That’s when I fell in love with building and designing web pages.”

Start-up company

Jolo began as an entry level designer for a small advertising agency before moving to a corporate domain merchandising agency as a junior graphic and web designer. Since then, he co-founded his own start-up design company Xackup Inc. where he works as the visual design lead. The company’s clients are mostly based in the United States and Europe. “We built a backup application for Mac called “Bandwagon” and we’re currently working on iTenna—a “sharing & syncing” application integrated on OS (Windows and Mac) and iPhone.”

Despite being currently busy with Xackup Inc.’s projects, he also helps his friends build websites. “I’m working on a toy camera shop website and a school website. I love to work on both ’cause they’re giving me creative freedom to infuse my own ideas and at the same time I get to learn a lot of technical programming and design stuff from these collaborations.”

Jolo describes himself as a minimalist and says he finds inspiration in simple things. “I get inspired by IKEA, Muji, Apple, Google, 37signals’ products, all the stuff in swissmiss.com and readymademag.com. I love them.”

Loving the job

There’s no doubt that Jolo loves his job. He says that the best part is “meeting people and building something.” Jolo adds, “I love the notion of giving design solutions to solve the client’s problems with their websites. There’s that sense of achievement and pride when you know you’ve become part of the success of people or companies because you were able to help them meet their site goals.”

No wonder he is often referred by his past clients, colleagues and friends to other people.

Jolo has big dreams design-wise. In the future, he hopes to build websites for IKEA, MUJI and Levis and work with Pentagram, Milton Glaser, Stefan Sagmeister, Paula Sher and James Victore.

He may be busy building countless other websites but he hasn’t turned his back on Multiply. It serves as a personal homepage where he shares videos, music, reviews, links and photos with his friends. “Multiply makes it so easy for me to play around with graphics, mix and match all the blogging and sharing elements. They made it so easy that some independent designers, young entrepreneurs and realtors use Multiply to sell arts and crafts, clothes, and even show off their portfolio.”

Offline life

Jolo has a number of other passions. “I love taking pictures. I love lomography. I love to travel. In the future, I want to try making films. I love watching movies.”

Because of the nature of his job, Jolo spends six to eight hours a day online. To relax, he does things offline. “I sleep all day, watch DVDs, read books or go outside with friends and take pictures.”

E-mail jolo.santos@gmail.com or visit his multiply page at http://avlack.multiply.com.

ok na ang lahat, pwera lang ang...............

My OJT is settled (sa wakas), OK Narin narin love life ko.

TS matters nalang talaga.
Maraming nasira,

we just cant run away from problems, because sometimes WE ARE THE PROBLEM.

"encouraged by this recollection, I pick up my spear again, attack the weeds I did not invite to grow in my garden, and am left with this morning's one lesson: When something undesirable grows in my soul, I ask God to give me the same courage mercilessly to pluck it out."

Bye weed. You made me believe you are just worth to be a horse's food, and not worth being a friend.

Oh well, if that makes you happy and sleep at night BITCH.

Ugali mo.. ayusin mo.

Ogilvy PR: HERE I COME!

At long last...

Ogilvy PR confirmed! Im finally working for them starting on August 19, 2008. (uhmm, 6 months internship that is...)

My goals: Of course to work hard and hopefully my supervisors will take notice of my effort and deep gusto to be a part of the team, and finally have a job offer even before graduation!

Super thanks to my Activenture Inc. (Events Management) Family who is finally venturing on Advertising narin under the name Happy Potato Company...

Sir Alfie still invited me to work for them while I was waiting for Ogilvy... nahiya lang ako kasi medyo nasarapan ako sa pag-petix sa buhay ko... pero now, i need to be back on track.. or else i might not finish my internship requirement and not graduate!

Im just soo glad that things are moving well in my life.

GOODLUCK!

10. Booty Music and Chris Brown

Booty Music - Git Fresh

9. Golden Fried Rice and Chris Brown Porkchop
Love it when Jed cooks for me! at Chris Brown Porkchop tawag ko kasi yummy din sha parang si CB! hehe..

8. Whitening Soap with Glutathione, Kojic Acid and Vitamin C

hahaha.. nakakaloka ang mga skin whitening trends talaga.. dati everybody is going gaga over papaya soaps.. then naging green papaya.. then naging pearl essence churva.. then naging glutathione.. pero ngayon, may bago, Kojic Acid.

What is this kojic acid?

it was discovered as a natural product derived form a mushroom in Japan in 1989. It has been successfully used to lighten pigment spots and skin discoloration and considered as a kind of popularly specialized inhibitor for melanin. At present, it is assigned into various kinds of cosmetics for curing freckles, spots on the skin of elder men, pigmentation and acne.

Is it safe to use?
It is a pure (98%) and natural material. It also is widely used in the field of medicine and food. Because it can eliminate free radicals, strengthen cell activity, and keep food fresh. Kojic Acid is widely consumed in the Japanese diet and is believed to be beneficial to health.

Pero is it safe for sensitive skin?
Well, hindi sa nagmamayaman ako, pero this summer lang, i had my skin ashthma.. (tama ba yung term) kaya im only prescribed by the derma hypoallergenic stuffs... medyo pumangit na nga balat ko at umitim na ako ulit kasi sanay ako sa Likas Papaya.. eh ngayon nangangati na ako pag Likas gamit ko.

So although nakakatakot pakinggan ung Kojic Acid, Im glad to say na natural siya at safe naman to use. Medyo nakakadry lang ng skin kaya dont foget to moisturize after using this soap!

7. Slimming Soap with L Carnitine

oh diba kaloka? pati ba naman soaps meron naring L-Carnitine? Narinig lang natin ito sa TV ad ni Juday for Fitrum pero ngayon ingredient narin sha for soaps... i havent tried the soap pero im excited to use it na!

6. Olay White Radiance Night Cream

have been suffering from dry skin since bakasyon.. ewan sunod-sunod na stress from thesis last year, then OJT and sudden change of lifestyle brought about this drastic change in my skin..

buti nalang there's Olay... haha.. in fairness naman nagiging supple na yung skin ko and sabi nga ni Ate Kat Agnes (from Activenture, where i worked as an Intern) "Apply lots of moisturising cream during the night, para kahit magsmoke ka, hindi maapektuhan masyado yung skin mo." hayy.. miss you ate Kat!

5. Godiva LicoWhite LipGloss

okay, for the normal kikay girls, i bet you know about this product na. pero natawa ako kasi naging usap-usapan na ito sa school dati, na it can also be used to "bring back the pink tinge to your nipples" hehehe..

yung nasa flyer nga nila, the copy goes out like "Have pink lips, Have pink nips"

NAUGHTY.

4. Nivea Sensitive Body Moisturizer

As ive said, i have skin asthma, and the derma advised me to moisturize and moisturize kahit na ang lagkit na and ang init sa pakiramdam! kaya im loving this nivea lotion kasi super water based siya at hindi mainit sa ktawan.. plus nawawala ang kati-kati ko when i apply this...

3. Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs

Tina introduced this product to me and im thankful for the inventors of this product! ngayon nakakapagshorts and nakakpagdress na ako!!! wahooo.. medyo expensive sha pero worth every centavo dahil nga puro ako peklat sa legs (skin asthma na naman).. pero after applying this product.. parang nakainvisible stockings ka na! hehe.. ganda niya sa gabi, nagglitter yung legs mo! lalong pansinin at hindi dahil sa mga scars! yey! love it!

2. Stresstabs Budget Pack

kahit kelan naman, nakakatulog ako ng mahimbing dahil sa stresstabs... sabi nga ni te kai, better to take it before you sleep kasi mas namamaximize yung rejuvenating effect niya.. (naks, may ganun?)

1. Kokology: The Game of Self-Discovery

This book is from Hannadale, just borrowed it kasi nakakaenjoy talaga sagutan! Sa mga oras na walang magawa, best to read books para naeexercise parin ang mind.. at this is surely one recommended book...

Kokology is the study of kokoro which in Japanese means "mind" or "spirit". The series of Kokology books were created by Isamu Saito, a professor at Rissho and Waseda Universities in Japan and an author of a number of bestselling books regarding psychology and relationships.

The books present a series of psychological games and hypotheticals that are designed to reveal one's hidden attitudes about sex, family, love, work, and other elements of one's life. It is essentially a game of self-discovery that can provide interesting, and often hilarious insight by answering questions to seemingly innocent topics. The books were published in 1998 in Japan and became a Japanese bestselling phenomenon. The books were translated became available in the U.S. in 2000.

Being a strong challenger in the masa make-up market, HBC’s corporate strategy is to start influencing the future cosmetic users early through a hip personal care brand relying on the pestering power of kids to parents..

Sorry to say Ms. Tulio, but we went out sa buong talk mo.

Which is all wrong.

10:30 – 11:30 AM

“Is Branded Advertising the New Advertising?”
March Ventosa
Head of Marketing ABS-CBN
This talk will attempt to tackle the audience through the new world of branded entertainment. What is it all about, its
Role in production and the brand sponsor and how this is currently engaging today’s consumers – the audience.

Capoeira dudes were dancing sa introduction ni Sir Ventosa. Kaso medyo, hindi sha game in making a fool of himself kaya medyo hindi well choreographed and entrance nia.

But still made me ADMIRE in a whole new level ang ABS-CBN.
People who actually know me can tell na hindi ako mahilig manuod ng Local Networks.

WHOOO LALA!!

okay pinakapoint ng kanyang discussion is that advertisers are now reaching their target market through programs. It works both ways sa Network and sa Advertiser kasi every minimal ang cost ng Network for Production because the advertiser shoulders all the cost. In return the Advertiser gets its own share of Publicity and Good Will sa Market... waaaaaa... grabeh talaga.. sobrang galing ng people ng ABS-CBN 360.

“Gothca! The Filipino Genius Building Empires of the Future”
Prof. Henry Tenedero
President, Center for Learning and Teaching Styles Philippines
To open wide the gates of our future, we must breaks free from the chains of myths and fallacies that shackle our vast potentials as geniuses in our own rights. This presentation will give insights to sharpening genius potentials plus a glimpse of what waits the graduate.

He was the most inspiring of all haha..

i had quoted him in my doodle notebook saying:

"We are all geniuses, take it or believe it"

"Success is fleeting" kaya we have to regulate it with Humility.

"Walk the talk of a great communicator"

"BELIEVE IT, EVEN REALITY WOULD BELIEVE IT TOO."

Being an educator himself, he discussed the Importance of Humor in classroom setting and he suggested several points in having yourself as a brand.

To end this uber long blog post, i'd like to quote professor Henry Tenedero..

"What have you done today to make your life more meaningful?"

SONA 2008: Ramdam ang Kaunlaran? San Banda?

July 28 - PGMA's SONA
okay, so i was about to go to school to check on the lay-outs of TS (The Scholastican) pero nung babyahe na ako paalis, my team texted me up to say the school is closing. i dont think we will be able to lay-out kasi papalabasin lang kami ng mga masunurin na guards sa schools.

so i cancelled the presswork. again. super duper delay na ang paper, which by the way caused the resignation of my associate editor, bene.

my word for that day, chill, again. kasi sabi, sinuspend narin pala ang klase dahil apparently it will rain hard. mejo lang naman yung ulan.

Pero happy ako, dahil in one week nakayanan kong mag-release ng back2back na flyer for SONA last Friday. We printed out 500 copies and all was free! yey, nadala sa diplomasya si Mang Delfin ng Ample Printing Press ng TS eh...

haha.. alam ko one week delayed na tong post ko pero gusto ko lang ishare yung very first flyer na nailabas ng TS under my supervision as the Editor in Chief! sana tuloy-tuloy na..

Ms. Emmi de Jesus
Secretary General
Gabriela

Dear Ms. Emmi de Jesus,

Good day! I am Diane Gervacio, the Editor in Chief of The Scholastican, the official publication of St. Scholastica's College, Manila. We will be having a forum on Friday entitled "A Nation in Crisis: Is there hope?" and we are planning to publish a flyer in response to the upcoming SONA 2008. In line with this, I would like to ask permission to reprint your article that appeared in Inquirer.net last July 17, 2008. The article voices out the same stand we would like to instill among the attendees of the forum as well as among the students of the school.

Hoping for a favorable response! More power.

For truth and accountability!

Sincerely Yours,
Diane Gervacio

And they replied:

Dear Diane,

Yes, you may. Attached is its original copy. And thank you.

SONA NA NAMAN

In a few weeks time, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be delivering her State of the Nation Address.

Definitely, the address would reek of lies under the banner of “Ramdam ang Kaunlaran.”

President Arroyo would probably boast of the same lame achievements that are being brandished on the irritating tarpaulins all over Metro Manila - 78,448 new classrooms, 1,745 Botika ng Bayan outlets, 11,024 Botika ng Barangay and 8,874 Tindahan Natin outlets. She would probably brag about the rice access card and the one-time P500 emergency fund given to Meralco patrons who consumed less than 100 kilowatts.

It is doubtful that she will mention the 18 oil price increases this year alone (not including the increases since her last SONA), the 11.4 inflation rate nor the astronomical increase in price of commercial rice and the recent “disappearance” of the P18.25 NFA rice from the market.

We thus challenge President Arroyo to say on her State of the Nation Address that she pig-headedly refused to repeal the R-VAT which would have meant an immediate P4-5 rollback in the price of oil. We dare her to admit that she would rather create senseless committees to look into the prices of goods and commodities than impose a price ceiling as mandated by law. And when she proudly announce the P20 wage increase, let her also say that this wage hike has long been negated by the unabated price increases vis-à-vis the seven years of wage increase drought under her term.

In short, we challenge President Arroyo to admit that she is to blame for the woes of Filipino families. But that, perhaps, would be expecting too much because should she tell the truth, the only decent move to make next is to step down. And we all know honesty and decency are words unknown to the president.
